A Little About Me
My name is Robert Mullenix. I'm a student of Computer Engineering at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I completed my Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. My main professional interests include computer architecture, embedded systems, compilers, and operating systems. I anticipate finishing my Master's in Science and Engineering this December.Outside of school and work, I enjoy many pastimes. I believe that we geeks, ever tinkering on home-built electronics, are the inheritors of the greasers and their muscle cars, minus the leather jackets, tight jeans, and fawning girls just waiting to be taken to the sock hop. We have the greasy hair down though; it's a start. Contrary to the prevailing belief that we in technology shun the light and abhor flexing any muscle save the brain, I enjoy the soccer pitch as much as the golf course and am always looking for an excuse to go. I find solace in cooking and listening to Jazz. My bookshelves contain tomes of well-worn pages on a wide breadth of subjects.
Yet Another Attempt at Web Design
Wow. This site has been a long time coming, far too long in fact. My first website appeared on Geocities back in 1996 and thankfully has been lost to the ages. By the next time I ventured into the domain of web design, the internet had changed significantly. I needed a repository for my academic and professional acheivements however. So into the breach, I delved once again. I learned the beauty of CSS and started tinkering around. I still have an archive of the site though it never contained much. About a year later, I purchased the sui-engineeris.com domain and figured that served as a good enough excuse to make another. This time I made even less progress; I got the barest of foundations set before getting bored. Now in graduate school 10 years after my first feeble foray, I find myself once again needing a better online home chronicaling my various endeavors. But this time rather than build a website from scratch, I am employing the sound research tactic of utlilizing the work of others. Standing on the shoulders of giants. Buy rather than build. Why reinvent the wheel? Actually, I just lifted this template from Paul Pomero at AdaptiveView. He has one of the cleanest implementations of the three column design I've seen. I've made some tailored modifications, so I don't feel too bad. Thanks Paul!
